Lagerstroemia Purple Magic has deep bubblegum purple flowers set against dark glossy green leaves. It's joyfully, unsuppressably purple, for those of you who like purple (me . . . have you noticed our nursery colors?).
Cut off the spent flowers so Purple Magic crapemyrlte reblooms and you get more of the fun.
This is yet another First Editions® crapemyrtle we simply had to have.

To Make It Thrive
Give Purple Magic crapemyrtle full sun for best flowering and plant it in a warm climate.
How do I prune this crapemyrtle? Since this is a shorter-statured crapemyrtle, there is no need to prune it, unless you want to deadhead any seed heads that form. Since Lagerstroemia Purple Magic is a rebloomer, we recommend cutting of the spent flower heads to encourage another flush of growth and reblooming in the same summer.
One of our friends, a big Southern Living reader, told me she followed the pruning instructions in an article in that magazine. She had me over to show off her work. I was so impressed. She's not a gardener, yet she followed the instructions and turned overgrown crapemyrtles into the most beautiful in her neighborhood!
